LEPRECHAUN LOVE

Yes, I'm still stuck on the love theme from Valentine's Day. But, with a twist. I used a rollover effect to produce this comic piece. Just put your mouse over it, and you'll see the what happens next. Hope you'll find your pot o' gold this month and out smart the Leprechaun.

CREATIVE: OLD JARS

Before tossing old jars away, try using them for arts and crafts for older kids who could handle glass.

• Use the jars to store dried fruits, nuts, or other healthy snacks.
• Have the kids decorate the jars with glass paint or glue items on the jars.
• Place the finished jars on the coffee table to display their new creations. Also, it's a good place for them to grab their snacks within reach while watching TV.
• When there is a guest in the house, the kids can talk about their art and share their snacks.

I haven't tried this craft with kids yet. So, let me know if it works. Hehehe. :D

STORY: LOTTERY

Little PETER is watching TV in the living room. His parents, JAMES and ASHLEY, comes in to tell him to go to bed.

JAMES: Peter, is time for bed.

PETER: Fine. (Stomps off to his room.)

JAMES and ASHLEY cozies up in the sofa. JAMES screams, and then ASHLEY does the same.

PETER: (Yells from his room.) Can you guys keep the noise down? I'm sleeping like you told me to do!!

JAMES: Son, we won the lottery!!!

PETER: (Comes out of his room rubbing his eyes and heads to the living room.) What did you say, dad?

JAMES: We won the lottery! It just got announced on TV!! (JAMES and ASHLEY jumps up and down.)

PETER: (Looks at the TV.) Dad, I hate to brake it to you... (PETER grabs the remote and presses Info on the recording from last week.)

 

REVIEW: CHINESE FESTIVALS

This is the first time that I really look into the Chinese New Year Festivals in the Los Angeles area. I was surprised to see that there are a couple of them.

:( Chinese New Year Lantern Festival (Monterey Park)
February 17-18, 2007

• The quality of the booths was not as good as before. And, I was disappointed to see that the beef jerky booth was not there. The length of the booths were seven blocks long, and it took me less than 30 minutes to quickly look through them all.

February 18, 2007

• I got there when the booths were closing, but I still got some good freebies because it was sponsored by LA18.

Well for next year, Chinese New Year will fall on February 7, 2008. I would like to check out these two other events for next year:

TIME SAVER: QUICK PEEL

From TVB's E-Buzz show, I watched a quick way to peel garlic and chestnuts. I don't know about you, but peeling chestnuts is a pain!!! So, the technique is to put several cooked chestnuts in a cloth bag and smack it against the table, alternating the bat swing from left to right. A majority of the chestnuts will be peeled perfectly without it being in pieces. Yummy... The same can be done with garlic bulbs for cooking.
